In September 2006 co-founders Christine Harmar-Brown, Ian Ross and Nikki
Tompsett joined forces, bringing together their experience in the
Visual and Performing arts to launch Todds Gallery, combining the sale
of contemporary art works with the creation of a strategic arts
business.
By facilitating tours, exchanges and outreach
programmes, Todds supports the development and promotion of local
artists whilst raising the profile of the arts within the community and
generating links to regional and national galleries.
Encouraging
dynamic collaborations between artists from different disciplines and
featuring a different artist or group show each month, the gallery will
host a variety of work and the programme for 2007 includes textiles,
video, street art and kinetic metal sculpture as well as paintings,
ceramics and jewellery.
Future plans involve site-specific
events and multi art form collaborations. The launch of the workshop
programme in February offers participants the opportunity to learn a
range of skills and techniques associated with the work on show and
this is complemented by a series of Artists Talks.
We have recently taken over the old Freda Gardham Primary School as a creative centre. Check out the the link to find out more.
