Jo Lamb's quirky, intense paintings, reminiscent of the modern Pop Art style of Wayne Thiebaud, resonate with an emotional force. Her subject matter, often the ordinary, commonplace elements of everyday, has an extraordinary ability to surprise and provoke the viewer.
Jo's most recent work sees a departure from big, narrative paintings to concentrate more on shape, form and colour. Many of the paintings are an expression of her daily, personal experience, forming a record of events and turning the prosaic into the exceptional.
Having trained at Camberwell where she studied printed textiles and fine art, Jo began her career as an artist working as a designer and illustrator. She now divides her time between painting and teaching and has exhibited locally and nationally including the Whitechapel Gallery in London.
