Rock-a-Norey
Richard Adams and Jane Beecham
2 - 24 February 2008
An exhibition of new work by Rye based artists Richard Adams and Jane Beecham opens at Todds Gallery in Hastings on February 2rd.
Following their very successful Mermaids’ Garden last year, Adams and Beecham are again showing together.
Rockanory sees Adams using Rock-a-Nore in Hastings as the inspiration for this latest series of works. Richly detailed, often subtly surreal, his much sought after views of everyday life are full of humour and magic, set against the familiar backdrop of net huts and fishing boats.
Monotypes from printmaker Jane Beecham, explore multilayered underwater imagery. Jellyfish are a source of inspiration and Beecham is here working with bigger, more oleaginous shapes. As well as exploring larger forms, Beecham is also interested in the progress of colour intensity and has started working with carborundum, a process using iron filings to produce deep rich colour.
Todds Gallery will be hosting a Meet The Artist event on Saturday February 9th from 12 until 2pm
