Box of Delights
Christmas at Todds with Boxall, Bridgeman and Pocket Pleasures

Ed Boxall and Edwina Bridgeman

Saturday December 6th – 24th

This Christmas Todds Gallery are featuring fabulous hand made books, original illustrations and small-scale narrative sculptures.  On December 12th. 13th and 14th we will be hosting Pocket Pleasures, a weekend artists’ book fair, introducing the work of six young artists who’s individually made books combine exquisite craftsmanship with contemporary creative flair.

Ed Boxall’s magical and enchanting books delight readers of all ages and his latest, The Shipwrecked Sailor, is richly illustrated with an emphasis on the sea and perfect moments of solitude. With an MA in Illustration from St Martins, Boxall is at heart a hands-on printmaker and illustrator, his prints are made with lino and sheet rubber from an old water tank, all printed on his handmade press, made from a 1950’s clothes mangle.

Bridgeman’s early career in theatre design is reflected in the narrative aspect of her work.  Her three-dimensional figurative sculptures from found materials are often inspired by words or stories and her references to Picasso and Art Brut are evidenced in her depiction of character.
