Tim Marrs and Andy Potts are two of the most creative and influential illustrators working in the UK today. Featuring new, original, screen-prints from Marrs and the energetic fusion of traditional and new techniques from Potts, the show is a dynamic, witty and intelligent example of contemporary illustration. Inspired by the cultural iconography of the United States, amongst other things, Rebel Machines' has a "... kinda angry, west coast, biker-traveling-little-hobo-type-thing..." going on.
Since graduating with an MA from Central St Martins in 1999 Marrs has gained an international reputation and an impressive client list including Saatchi and Saatchi, Geffen Records and Jordan:Nike. Marrs' work is layered with meaning and word play, reflecting the diversity of his influences and inspiration, both literal and metaphorical.
Following his graduation from Portsmouth University, Andy Potts worked in a new media agency in Brighton before moving to London where he has pursued an dual career in illustration and film/dvd animation. Winner of two AOI Gold Awards, Potts has exhibited work in London, Europe and the US. His unique approach to image making, where hand crafted elements collide with digital collage, complements his wry sense of humor.
